19 - 20KS0103029e004 - Wakefield Kansas Birding Festival - Interested in bird watching and want to learn more? A three day event will be held in Wakefield, Kansas to highlight the bird watching areas around Wakefield, Milford Lake and the Milford Wetlands. The area offers an intriguing blend of riparian woodlands, tall grass prairies, wetlands and aquatic habitats. Because of the mix of ecosystems, a bird list of more than 300 species of birds has been recorded in the area during migration.

Field trips will be offered including; Landscape Arboretum, North Timber Creek, Milford Wetlands, Republican River Bottoms, the Milford Nature Center and Fish Hatchery,Prairie Chicken field trip to Fort Riley and Konza Prairie. Seminars will include, Eagles,Terns and Endangered Species; Birds of Prey; Purple Martins and Backyard Birding.

Birding activities are scheduled at the Methodist Church in Wakefield.

30 Wakefield Museum's Christmas Bazaar - Plan to bring your holiday shopping list and check it twice at the Wakefield Museum's Annual Holiday Bazaar. You'll have the opportunity to browse through - and purchase - a variety of high quality handcrafted angels, Santas, snowmen, wreaths, holidays aprons and vests, and wall hangings. The many unusual Christmas tree ornaments, unique lighted table top trees, hand-painted wooden chairs, embellished towels and pillows, and American decorated items can help you find something special for even the fussiest person on your shopping list.

You're sure to find something tempting in the holiday treat section in the Rau Wing of the Museum. Delicious homemade items such as pies, cakes, cookies, breads, popcorn balls and candies are just a few of the treats available.

There also will be homemade vegetable beef soup and chili, homemade cinnamon rolls, pie and cake as long as they last and free coffee all day long.

Don't forget to check out the nearly new "white elephants" awaiting for you downstairs. You may just find a treasure you can't live without.

Door prizes are given out every half hour starting at 9:30 AM - Teddy bears, homemade fudge, Christmas decorations, CD's and books are just a few of the surprises for children and adults.

This annual event is held the first Saturday of December. 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
