Annual CSLRM Mountain Man Living History Encampment
- Walk back in time to 1840 and visit a Plains Trading Camp. Mountain Man and tradesmen will be displaying their crafts as well as conducting workshops in beadwork, knife making, rope making, powder horn making, bow and arrow making, flint knapping and much more. - PrairieFest is a community festival now in its 48th year. The festival hosts fine artists from as far away as Texas and Iowa along with local and area artists. Ark City Fireworks
- The Arkansas City Community Band will have a special Independence Day concert at 7 p.m. July 4 at First United Methodist Church, 2448 Edgemont Drive. Seating is limited, so attendees are urged to bring their own chairs or blankets for this patriotic concert prior to the Fraternal Order of Police fireworks display. The fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. or dark. The show will be shot from Spring Hill Golf Course and music for the show will be provided by KSOK 95.9 FM. Annual Last Run Car Show
- Hosted since 1976 by the Ark City tumbleweeds, the Last Run Car Show is a tradition on the fourth weekend of September. It is the largest car show put on by an individual car club in Kansas and reached a record number of over 1,000 entries for the 25th Anniversary in 2000. LAST RUN will officially begin on Friday evening. Saturday is a full day of events with games, entertainment, and judging of entries. A swap meet and craft show are held all day Saturday and Sunday morning. Saturday evening activities include a cruise, dance, and parking lot competitions, such as burnouts and flame thrower. Stone Bridges of Cowley County Fall Tour
- Guided tour of the historic stone bridges in the area. Bus leaves from the Denton art Center in arkansas City in the morning, stops for a chuckwagon lunch, and ends in the early afternoon back at the Art Center. Arkalalah
- Arkalalah is an annual fall festival held for a week ending the last Saturday of October. It draws crowds as large as 30,000 people into town for the week-long event which is highlighted by the crowning of Queen Alalah, a mammoth parade and a wide range of other activities for the family.Arkalalah was started in the Depression as a means of lifting up local spirit. Its name is a manufactured work using the "Ark" from Arkansas City and "alalah", believed to be an Indian word for "Good Times". Each year Arkalalah kicks-off with a big event on Saturday evening. Wednesday evening is the "Parade of Lights". Queen Alalah, traditionally a sophomore at Cowley County Community College, is crowned on Friday night of the celebration. Saturday festivities get into full swing with the street games, marching band contest, Arkalalah Run and concessions. The parade lasts around two hours and begins at 2 p.m. A Craft Show is held at the Rec Center. Arkalalah has become a traditional homecoming time for many former residents and family members and there are also reunions that coincide with the annual fall celebration. Visions of Childhood Doll & Miniature Show
- Beginning in 1994, the Arkansas City Area Arts Council has hosted the "Visions of Childhood" event as a benefit for the fine arts program at Cowley County Community College. In cooperation with the College Endowment Association, the project is centered around an exhibit and tea room. Original and kit designs of miniature houses and other types of dwellings will be shown along with collectible and individually created dolls and other miniatures.
