- Book Your Child a Ticket to the Imagination Library! Enroll your child in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and we'll send them a FREE BOOK every month until their fifth birthday. The time you spend reading with your child opens their mind to faraway places, exciting adventures and sets them on the pathway to an interest in lifelong learning. Read to your child- it's a wise investment in their future and the future of our community. 0-4 Years of Age Eligible If your child lives in Altamont 67330 zip code, register at the Altamont City Office. Participation is limited. This program is sponsored locally by the Altamont Recreation Commission and the Altamont United Methodist Church. If you would like to sponsor a child to receive books for one year, you can mail your donation to Altamont Recreation Commission, PO Box 305, Altamont, KS 67330. $25 will sponsor a child for one year. City Wide Rummage Sales
- Junk in the Trunk will take place downtown on the East side of Huston Street starting at 7:00 a.m. Bring your vehicles and have your sale right out of your car trunk. Arts and crafts, fundraisers, and rummage sales are all encouraged. Spots can be reserved for $2.00 by contacting the Altamont City Office at 620-784-5612. Annual Kids Fishing Derby
- Fish at your favorite fishing hole or Idle Hour Lake. Age Groups: 3-5 yrs. old 6-8 yrs. old 9-12 yrs. old. Medals awarded for the largest in weight, and smallest in length in each age group and category - Sunfish, Bass, Crappie and Catfish.
