PFAA: Theatre on the Square Presents - The Halloween Trilogy (Live Radio Play)
- The Pulaski Fine Arts Association, in conjunction with Theater on the Square in Waynesville creepily present The Halloween Trilogy, a live radio play in three parts, this weekend only. It is the second year in a row that Theater On The Square has hosted a Halloween Live Radio Show. Last year featured The Lost World by J. De Lancie and focused on one story. This year the director and PFAA Board Member, Stephen Woolsey, has decided to produce a show of three short horror stories by famous authors. The production will include The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe, The Mark of the Beast by Rudyard Kipling, and The Canterville Ghost by Oscar Wilde. This trio of scary stories was adapted for radio by Ceclia Fanon and John De Lancie and is produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company, Inc. of Woodstock, IL. Live radio shows consist of actors on stage (radio actors), who portray multiple characters, using different voices and facial expressions. The radio actors also create sounds using interesting everyday objects to mimic noises like squeaky door hinges, rushing water, foot-steps, etc. This is known as foley and is the same process used to generate sounds in film and television. Much like a stage reading, the actors are still on script (meaning the scripts are in front of them), but the performance has been rehearsed and is fully nuanced. These short stories are perfect for Halloween and feature themes such as revenge, ghosts, demises, hauntings, and a monkey god. Beware, the show is rated R due to themes of horror, so be advised it is not recommended for children. The show runs on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 28, 29 & 30. The Friday and Saturday shows start at 7:30 pm, while the Sunday Matinee starts at 2:30. Address: 312 Route 66 , Waynesville, Missouri |
