Fireworks at the Fort
- The annual "Fireworks at the Fort" Fourth of July celebration at the Battle of Pilot Knob State Historic Site in Pilot Knob promises a day filled with "activities, food and fun all day long," culminating with a large fireworks show at 9 p.m. made even more dramatic by the explosive sounds echoing throughout the Arcadia Valley. Other "Fireworks at the Fort" activities will include bounce houses and a waterslide, both opening at 11 a.m.; food and crafts from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; a beer and wine garden provided by Edg-Clif Farms & Vineyard from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and music by Medallion from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Address: 118 East Maple, Fort Davidson State Historic Site , Pilot Knob, Missouri |

13 - 14 | ![]() During the battle, Lt. David Murphy screamed from atop the parapets, "There was never a prettier place to die than right here!" But now, scrap yards, stores, more development, and water towers threaten the battlefield and surrounding scenery. In 2014, the Re-enactment of the Battle of Pilot Knob took place during the sesquicentennial of the civil war. The Friends of Fort Davidson are also instrumental in bringing the re-enactment to life every three years as a tribute and memorial to those who fought and died in this bloody battle.
