Laura Ingalls Wilder Festival
- The Laura Ingalls Wilder Festival, or "Wilder Days", as it's also called, has been celebrated in Mansfield since 1973. The festival is held on Saturday and includes a wide variety of music, dancing and entertainment, games, good food, arts and crafts booths, contests and parades. Since our festival is modeled after a less civilized time, you are sure to meet some interesting personalities as you stroll through our town square. You might meet up with Abraham Lincoln or Theodore Roosevelt. Craft booths line the square offering plenty of hand crafted items you can buy. You can bring your lawn chairs and sit in the shade of a tree in the city square, enjoy a good cold sasparilla and listen to the music. One popular attraction on Friday afternoon is the arrival of an authentic Wagon Train that travels to Mansfield each year and sets up camp. These hardy, modern day "pioneers" have some conveniences that were not available to Pa, Ma, Laura, Mary and Carrie as they journeyed across the prairies, but they still enjoy the good company of their friends and the companionship of their animals on the "trail". All day Saturday there will be craft booths in the park, concession stands, contests, games and a big parade at 11:00 AM. We invite you to come and join in on the fun on "Wilder Days" where Laura, Almanzo and Rose once lived. Address: USHwy 60 & MOHwy 5 , Mansfield, Missouri |
