Oxford Double Decker Arts Festival
- Plans for the annual Oxford Double Decker Arts Festival are well under way! Taking its name from the town's authentic double decker bus imported from England in 1994, the festival brings together visitors and residents alike for a daylong celebration of music, food, and the arts held on the picturesque Courthouse Square. Performing on two stages erected on either side of the historic county courthouse, the exciting musical lineup featured an exciting variety of blues, southern rock, Cajun and Zydeco, rock and roll, pop, country, gospel, and regional rock groups. 115 visual artists from the region will display their creations. Art vendors will include painters, potters, photographers, glass craftsmen, woodworkers, and folk artists. Some artists will explain their techniques through interactive demonstrations. The children's Square Fair will be a circus extravaganza featuring magic shows, face painting, clowns, jugglers, story telling, a petting zoo, and exciting musical performances to keep both children and the young at heart entertained. The highlight of the afternoon is the Best Dressed Pet Contest when participants, hoping to win the coveted first prize, parade their dogs, cats, rabbits, ponies, and even chickens dressed in elaborate costumes. Stroll through the "Taste of Oxford" food court featuring a sampling of culinary treats from local restaurateurs. Whether a cup of spicy duck gumbo, a slice of pepperoni pizza, or a chocolate-filled croissant, there is something to satisfy everybody's palate.
