5OH0103003e004 - Delaware Out with a Bang - Last Concert of the Season. 14 timpani! That's what it takes to play Phillip Glass's "Concerto Fantasy for Two Timpanists." From Chattanooga, John Kilkenny will be joined by Symphony timpanist, Warren Hyer for this exciting work. Cleveland composer, H. Leslie Adams' Nightsongs, sung by Delaware resident Angel Tyler, are based on the poems of Langston Hughes and others. The concert and season will end with Beethoven's Seventh Symphony, described as "a feeling of true spontaneity where the notes seem to fly off the page."

24 - 8 Holiday Fantasy of Lights at Alum Creek State Park - Come to the Alum Creek Marina and take a drive through the Holiday Fantasy of Lights. The 1 1/2 mile drive features over 1 million lights and 100 displays, including a giant American flag and some with animation. After your drive, stop in at the Marina Boat House to visit Santa Claus at his Gift Shop and enjoy free cookies and hot chocolate. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Recreation Unlimited, a non-profit organization serving youth and adults with physical and mental disabilities. 10 Perkins Observatory - Gaze at the galaxies, count the craters on the moon, and enjoy an entertaining astronomy lesson along with a historical tour of this unique observatory built in 1923. The observatory is one man's dream, funded by income from raising pigs to feed the Union Army.

The observatory's 32" mirror is the second largest telescope in the state. Even when Ohio skies fail to cooperate for the best possible star gazing, the Perkins experience is one not to miss. Night or day, rain or shine, star gazing and storytelling at Perkins is a fun, educational, one of a kind experience--a great stop for a mystery tour, too!
