4 Annual Winter Hike at Lake Metroparks Farmpark - Get outside and enjoy the beauty of the winter woodlands on a guided nature hike. Featured hikes will vary in length and terrain from flat and easy for the novice hiker to longer with rolling terrain and a few steep hills for the experienced hiker. Easy-to-follow trail maps are available in the Nature Center.

24 - 3 Maple Sugaring, Two Weekends at Lake Metroparks Farmpark - Visitors will take a horse-drawn wagon ride to the Woodland Science Center to witness the entire maple production process as sap is collected, boiled, and turned into maple syrup and other products. Discover how trees are tapped and see the amazing network of the more than 1,000 trees that are tapped for the Farmpark maple sugaring collection. Other activities include making maple stirs and maple-oriented crafts and sampling maple syrup and candy. Two Weekends, Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Farmpark's own maple syrup and other maple items will be available for sale.

Pancakes served all day in J&J Café (additional fee applies). No registration necessary.

2 - 5 Spring Art Show - Art From Trees - Trees grace our lives in many ways - from the wood used to build our homes to providing shade, cleaning the air and more. Trees are also a work of art in themselves. Discover the many ways local artists use wood to create both fine and functional art. Artwork is available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the Nature Center.

13 - 14 Railroads in the Parks at Lake Metroparks Farmpark - The Visitors Center hosts a large operating model train display 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Both HO and N-Scale layouts will be represented. Displays on agriculture and the railroad will be on display, and Hobby shops will have model railroad information available. The Farmpark Courtyard features a Garden Railroad on display with a G-Scale train and track.

25 Dairy Days at Lake Metroparks Farmpark - Cow milking, ice cream making and more. Sample a variety of dairy products. "Milk-Maker's Parade" highlights the different breeds of cows along with sheep and goats. Visitors can hand-milk a cow in the Dairy Parlor, and participate in a cow-milking contest.

25 - 26 Combined Rose Show at Penitentiary Glen Reservation - Stop and smell the roses at this juried flower show hosted by The Cleveland Rose Society and The Northeast Ohio Rose Society. The public may compete by entering their home-grown rose specimens. Entries are accepted from 7:30 am to 10:30 am on Saturday morning with judging to follow. Select a long stem with foliage and label with the name of the cultivar.

12 - 13 A Taste of Ohio at Vintage Ohio - Experience A Taste of Ohio's food marketplace at "Vintage Ohio", Ohio's premier wine festival. Explore our exhibit for exceptional Ohio-Made food products from across the Buckeye State as you talk with company representatives, sample their favorite items, take home new recipes and purchase some of the best gourmet food you've ever tasted.

Included on the menu are well know companies like Rossi Pasta, Jose Madrid Salsa, Robert Rothschild Farm and Heini's Cheese. 26 - 27 Vintage Ohio Wine Festival - One of North America's finest outdoor wine festivals. More than thirty of Ohio' own winemakers will be on hand to pour hundreds of varieties of wines. Twenty of the area's best restaurants and caterers will offer a wide array of foods ranging from gourmet selections to family friendly fare. Two stages will feature some of the area's most popular musical groups. Dozens of artisans will demonstrate fine art work and offer it for sale. Master chefs will present their favorite recipes on the cooking stage both days. Winemaking and wine appreciation seminars will appeal to those with a sophisticated understanding of the world of wine as well as to those just discovering an appreciation for wine as a beverage of everyday enjoyment. 1-10pm. Adult taster tickets are $30.00 when ordered in advance and $35.00 when bought at the gate. Non drinker/designated driver tickets are $12.00 and children 3 to 18 are $3.00. 3 and under are free.

24 - 25 Fallfest & Plant Sale - Visitors from across Ohio and beyond look forward to Holden's annual Plant Sale and Fall Festiveal. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the bounty of fall harvest, with vendors selling everything from herbs to apples, jams to homemade soaps. Holden will also be selling plants and trees perfect for fall planting. With horticulture experts on hand to answer questions about who, what, when and where to plant, along with complementary classes for the public--this is a can't miss for garden enthusiasts.

7 - 8 Village Peddler Festival - The Annual Village Peddler Festival is an outdoor American craftsmen marketplace with over 150 artisans selling their own individual creations and art. Stroll down shaded paths while shopping traditional, country, Americana, Victorian and primitive arts and crafts. Many new craftsmen and a silhouette artist joins the festival this year. The sounds of live folk and traditional music will fill the air along with the aroma of the many choices of delicious food available. A colorful harvest market completes the quaint festival with produce, baked goods, candy shop and flowers and plants to take home.

7 - 8 Fall Harvest Festival & Antique Tractor Show at Lake Metroparks Farmpark - A festival celebrating the beauty of the Fall season, in a beautiful setting. Take a wagon ride to Festival Field where you can taste fresh harvest soup, sample a variety of apples, watch apple butter being made, and help us press some apple cider. Venture on to the Plant Science Center and learn about honey harvesting and try some fresh picked veggies or just enjoy browsing through the crafters and see the parade of antique tractors that helped revolutionize farming. Children's area includes pony rides & kid-size hay maze, 3-acre corn maze for the "big" kids, bushel loads of activities for all ages.

8 Wildlife Festival at Lake Metroparks Penitentiary Glen Reservation - Celebrate wildlife with this free family fun event. Discover the wildlife of yesterday and today and the challenges they face. Activities include LIVE ANIMALS, Call of the Wild contest, costumed critters, crafts, and tattoos for the children.

Directions: Take I-90 to Rt. 306 south for about one mile. Turn left onto Rt. 615. Turn right (east) onto Kirtland-Chardon Road and continue for two miles. Penitentiary Glen Reservation is located on the right (south) side of the road.

27 - 12 Halloween Hayrides at Lake Metroparks Farmpark - Halloween Hayrides feature a 20-minute, narrated hayride along a one-mile-long trail filled with family-oriented thrills, chills, and adventures. Encounter upside down skeletons, falling spiders, and a lagoon with a mysterious creature! Many "fright" sites will leave you with goose bumps or giggles!

Returning this year is a haunted trail through Festival Field. After riding on the wagon, visitors continue their journey with a walk through a haunted hair salon, a monster band, and an enchanted pumpkin patch.

28 - 6 Corn and Pumpkin Harvest Weekend at Lake Metroparks Farmpark - Two beautiful Fall themed weekends featuring a giant corn maze, an opportunity to harvest your own pumpkin (additional fee), harvest activities and demonstrations, hay maze. Visit with all of the Farmpark animals, take a wagon ride, sample apple cider and enjoy a picnic lunch from the on-site Cafe. Maze open August 15 through October 19, 2014 • Tuesday through Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm.

Use your senses for an enchanting walk through the woods, learn how bats hunt & eat,and ride a train through Pumpkin Head Forest. 5:30 PM - 10:30 PM. 15 - 10 Country Lights at Lake Metroparks Farmpark - A fun-filled celebration of the season featuring horse-drawn wagon rides through a winter wonderland trimmed with hundreds of thousands of holiday lights and farm-themed displays. Festively decorated Christmas trees deck-the-halls of the Visitor Center and the classroom is filled with the sights and sounds of model train layouts. Santa's Workshop is a special treat for families where they can watch their child make a wooden toy to take home. Friday, Saturday, Sunday after Thanksgiving and first Wednesday in December through the day before Christmas Eve • 4:45 to 9 pm

In the arena, meet some of Farmpark's animals and enjoy shows and drills presented by the Lake Metroparks Volunteer Mounted Posse, the Light Horse Brigade, or the Heel-n-Time drill team, a performance consisting of canine obedience training put to music.
