Annual Malta Mother's Day Flea Market
- For almost 30 years the Malta Flea Market has been a Mother's Day fixture along 4th street facing the Muskingum River in Malta, Ohio. In addition to numerous vendors, the event features a variety of local food favorites, including the annual VFW Fish Fry, homemade ice cream and sarsparilla, evening bingo, competitive horseshoe pitching, and always a crowd pleaser,the kiddie tractor pull. Musical entertainment is ongoing throughout the three days and vendor booths are open from 10:00am to dark Friday & Saturday and from 10:00 am to 3:00pm on Sunday. Access to the event can easily be done by car, on foot or by boat along the Muskingum River Water trail. Free docking facilities are available at the flea market site. Muskingum Riverfest
- Sponsored by the Muskingum River Parkway, ODNR Divisions of Watercraft & Wildlife and the Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, this year's day-long festival will highlight the natural beauty, recreational, historic and ecological value of the Muskingum River and its being Ohio's 2nd Official Water Trail. The Muskingum River Lock & dam system is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A variety of artists and craftsmen will have their work on display and for sale. And new this year are a variety of hands-on activities including candlemaking, paper marbling, animal identification, wool spinning and wood working. In addition, Gander Mountain representatives will be onsite demonstrating the latest in non-motorized watercraft. Free pontoon boat rides will be ongoing throughout the day. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources will have wildlife experts on hand throughout the day doing programs on Birds of Prey and a member of the Southern Ohio Storytellers will be spinning yarns and telling tales of life on Muskingum River. Wolf Creek Corn Maze
- Morgan County's only corn maze and it's attracting lots of attention. Located on the Wilson Family Farm 5 miles outside of Malta, Ohio off State Route 78, the Morgan County Scenic Byway and now part of The Artists & Orchardists of Hickory Ridge. Open daily from August through October, cost is $3.00/ person or $10.00/ family. The maze will be haunted for Halloween weekend. This maze will also be open for the Hickory Ridge Fall Festival. The maze can be visited everyday but visitation is on the honor system during the week. Special events and activities are held on the weekends. Hickory Ridge Festival
- This annual festival features a diverse group of home-based artists and agri-businesses offering for sale one-of-a-kind art, crafts, food, furniture and antiques. The festival will also include live entertainment, food and demonstrations of various arts and crafts. Enjoy homemade pie and ice cream and the traditional music of the Backporch Swing Band. Included in this years activities are the Wolf Creek Corn Maze, Wilson's sorghum pressing, Morgan Band Bake Sale and the famous Hickory Ridge Fruit Pie contest.
