Gingerbread Season
- Five foot gum drops, Three-foot lollypops and peppermint sticks as tall as trees become a life size outdoor illuminated 'Candyland' with ribbon candy walls during "Gingerbread Season". Fascinate your child as you walk through 'Candyland' escorted by a real gingerbread man; see the full size gingerbread cottage known as "Home Sweet Home". Visit and shop in King Kandy's enchanted candy shop. Take your photo with the king of all sweets! Mr. Mint and all the Candyland characters will point the way to the huge selection of candies from yesteryear to the present. It's all about the Gingerbread man! Even if you can't catch him, you can look for him and his gingerbread house world at the second annual Mid West Gingerbread House Contest. The public's participation will be required as you vote for your favorite house to recieve the Public's Choice Award of one thousand dollars in cash. (Deadline for the call for entries is November 1st. Entry forms can be obtained by contacting Herb N Ewe or online at www.herbnewe.com click on Gingerbread Season!) The gift shop offers a wide selection of candy ornaments, gingerbread decorations and holiday gifts for giving. During Gingerbread Season you can experience a variety of lunch and dinner selections made with fresh ginger in the restaurant. Along with our usual menu you'll find Stuffed Sole with apricot ginger sauce and Ginger Clove Glazed Ham. Special childrens menu and, as expected, you'll find warm ginger bread, a caramel and chocolate ginger bread pudding and fresh gingerbread man cookies. Herb N Ewe is just north of interstate 70 on St Rt 40 (National Road) 5 miles west of exit 152 or 5 miles east of exit 132. Extended hours during Gingerbread Season are 10 am to 9 pm everyday.
