Annual Friends of the Library Used Book Sale
- The annual Used Book Sale of the Friends of the Greenville Public Library is coming. The sale will be at PAWS Bingo Hall across from Dairy Queen. Friday you will have all day to shop the lowest prices anywhere for books and more. The sale starts at 9 am and lasts until 8 pm. Hardbacks and softcovers are 50 cents, paperbacks 25 cents, DVDs and CDs are $1. Saturday is the bag sale from 9 am until 2 pm, when $2 will buy all you can put into a supplied brown paper grocery bag. There are many hundreds of like-new items as well as gently used ones. Some collectible books will be offered. Get rid of the old and bring in the new at our huge sale benefiting the Greenville Public Library. The Friends of the Library uses the proceeds from the books sale and contributions from members to provide materials, equipment and programs beyond the library's budget. It has proudly sponsored the Summer Family Reading Program and the Author's Night series at Montage in Greenville. The Friends has helped fund the new security system, the theater system, the Wii and Lego Club and the updating of genealogy microfilm records at the library. The money you spend at this event supports Greenville Public Library, which in turn supports the community.... and you! Annual Poultry Days
- Join thousands of people for a weekend of just plain FUN! The town of Versailles will be overrun during the this weekend of June for it's annual chicken festival. Enjoy the arts & crafts show, Peddler's Market, flower show, baking contests, egg decorating contests and displays, talent show, The Towne and Country Players will be performing again this year, "Miss Chick" contest, "Little Miss Chick" contest, free live entertainment, kiddie rides, children's petting zoo, Grand Parade, antique & classic car parade, 5K Heritage Run, bike tour, golf scramble, softball and ultimate disk tournaments. Darke County Steam Threshers Reunion
- Activities include wheat threshing, log sawing, approximately 35 steam engines, tractors, gas engines, farm machinery and horses featuring Allis Chalmers equipment. Steam engine torque test in action. A large flea market will be open each day along with plenty of entertainment for all ages, including an antique tractor pull on Saturday afternoon.
