27 - 29OK0408021e002 - Okemah Lt. Governor's Invitational Turkey Hunt - Okemah is one of four municipalities designated as a "host community" for the Lt. Governor's Invitational Turkey Hunt. This three-day event was established in 1987 and began coming to Okemah in 1995. It serves as an economic development tool for the state of Oklahoma, affording state officials the opportunity to invite business leaders and economic development professionals to Oklahoma from around the country. The guest list is compiled with input from the Commerce Department, State Chamber of Commerce, local chambers and other state and local officials.

The Lt. Governor's Invitational Turkey Hunt is the perfect way to show off the exciting opportunities Okemah has to offer. It provides business leaders and economic development professionals an opportunity to experience all the benefits of relocating to our community. They also have the chance to see for themselves what it's like to enjoy Okemah's warmth and hospitality.

26 - 30OK0408021e006 - Okemah Annual Woody Guthrie Festival -

The official Festival "kick off" will be Wednesday with the
Annual Woody Guthrie Festival featuring an incredible lineup of folk legends. Other festival events on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and
Sunday include live entertainment, childrens activities, arts & crafts, food vendors, and Festival memorabilia.

Please bring blankets and lawn chairs - no ice chests please. Food and drink vendors will be available.
PLEASE NOTE: Although the festival is completely free, there will be
a small fee for parking to help offset the great expense of hosting such a
festival.

Woody would have loved this place!

Late night Jammin' - Last year's receptions were perhaps the biggest hit of the entire festival. Held at Okemah's Brick Street Cafe, the receptions began following the performances on the main festival stage. Sometimes not even starting until after midnight, most of the mainstage performers joined together and rocked out 'til the wee hours of the morning. Where else can you hear, Ellis Paul, Jimmy LaFave, Joel Rafael and Kevin Welch making up verses to Dylan's Rainy Day Women after singing all the ones Dylan wrote? Where else can you hear Don Conoscenti showing his blues roots as he jams to "Sweet Home Chicago"?

Only 250 tickets will be sold each night, with proceeds going to help offset the cost of producing the festival. But trust us, it's worth it. Last year's receptions were sold out, so make plans now to get your tickets early. Tickets are Only $10 each and are available by sending a check or money order, along with a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope to:
