14th Annual Lewis and Clark - Race on the River
- The 14th Annual Lewis and Clark 10K/5K Race/Walk, and new 1Mile Fun Run/Walk will be held Saturday. The 10K will begin at 9 AM, the 5K at 9:30 AM, the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk at 10:00 AM, and the kids race around 10:20 AM. All events will start from Barger Park at the north end of River Street (2 blocks west of Main Street - road will be barricaded). Awards ceremony begins at 10:30 A.M. at the finish line. American Indian Day and Powwow
- A one-of-a-kind and inexpensive family and cultural experience is awaiting for you at St. Joseph's Indian School's annual powwow and cultural events. Two days filled with cultural art demonstrations, performances, craft projects and dances take place in Chamberlain, SD. Friday's activities include art demonstrations and performances at Akta Lakota Museum and Cultural Center. On Saturday take in campus tours or browse the museum's beautiful displays and gift shop. The main event, the all-youth powwow, begins at noon. Children of all ages compete throughout the day. There will be a special opportunity for audience participation during the inter-tribal dance. After a full day of powwow dancing, enjoy a complimentary meal of traditional buffalo stew, wojapi, and fry bread. All ages are welcome to attend. Cameras are welcome.
