The Retreat From Canada: Revolutionary War Encampment
- On the 7th of May, 1776 the bulk of the American Northern Army retreated from Quebec City. Warner's Regiment (aka the Green Mountain Boys) was the last Regiment to begin the retreat, leaving 2-4 days after the main body of the Northern Army.Along the supply lines in the Champlain Valley, the mouth of the Onion River was a temporary depot and major logistics and personnel transshipment point. General Schuyler, Commander in Chief of the Northern Department, was calling up the Militia as a temporary reinforcement of the Northern Army until Continental troops could be sent north, in order to try and maintain a foothold in Canada.This re-enactment will recreate an encampment of colonial militia who were training to reinforce the American forces in Canada in 1776. This event will feature a lifestyle educational presentation, with ongoing lifestyle, tools and crafts displays and presentations (both home-life and military camp-life).
