Hillbilly Days
- Join us in the quaint, historic village of Middlebourne, West Virginia as we humorously celebrate part of our Appalachian heritage with Hillbilly Days. Shopkeepers and townsfolk dressed in hillbilly attire help you enjoy life with fresh-brewed sassafras tea and homemade soup beans over the open fire. Available for dessert will be chocolate outhouses and little brown jugs. Go on a scavenger hunt for 'coons and 'possums or you can help judge the "purtiest" outhouses contest. For a bit of history, tour the Tyler County Museum; originally the first public high school in West Virginia that was built in 1918. Live bluegrass and country music will fill Saturday with the original flavor of this West Virginia tradition. Middle Island Harvest Festival
- Apple butter, sorghum, corn meal and buckwheat flour are made and sold daily at the festival. Activities include: Big Pumpkin contest, good food, hay rides, baking contest, arts & crafts, Harvest Princess contest, Big Pumpkin Auction, Antique Tractor Show and Pull and Bingo.
