Lake O' The Pines Camping Lake O' the Pines has four campgrounds where site use fees are collected at a controlled entrance gate. All the campgrounds have restrooms with showers and hot water. All four have playgrounds for the kids as well. They all have sewer dump stations for the convenience of campers.

ALLEY CREEK - OPEN SUMMER ONLY - 49 RV SITES, 30 TENT SITES, 11 TENT PADS

BRUSHY CREEK - OPEN ALL YEAR

Brushy Creek Recreation Area at Lake O' the Pines is a highly developed camping area located at the south shore of Lake O' the Pines, just off FM 726. The park provides complete overnight camping facilities, with day-use facilities available in nearby Lakeside and Shady Grove Parks. A fee is charged for all campsites. Some campsites are available on a first come/first serve basis while other campsites may be reserved in advance.

CAMPING AREA - Brushy Creek Campground provides developed campsites for recreational vehicles and tent campers with electricity and water. There are less developed areas specifically for tent camping without electricity.

There are 37 campsites in the tent camping areas. These campsites are located in wooded areas and are suitable for campers with tents only. Campsites in Tent Area T1 are highly developed and include a tent pad, picnic table, fire ring, lantern pole and access to a trash receptacle. Twelve sites in Tent Area T1 have electrical connection. Campsites in Tent Area 2 are less developed and include a picnic table, fire ring and access to trash receptacles. Potable water hydrants are located with both tent areas.

There are 61 campsites in the campground designated for recreational vehicle camping. Campsites for RVs have hard surfaced pads primarily for use by camper type vehicles or trailers. Some of these RV sites have tent pads and only on these sites will both RVs and tents be permitted. Each campsite provides a picnic table, fire ring, lantern pole, water hydrant, electrical connection, and access to a trash receptacle.

Two RV sewage/gray water dump stations are located in the park. One is located on the entrance road to the park, and the other is located on the road leading away from the boat ramp.

Four restroom facilities are provided for the above camping areas. Each restroom has flush toilets. Three of the facilities are classified as washhouses and have showers in addition to toilets.

DAY USE AREAS - Day-use facilities can be found in adjacent Shady Grove Park and at nearby Lakeside Park which is located off of the dam. Both areas have individual picnic sites with picnic tables and cooking grills, multi-lane concrete boat ramp with courtesy docks, designated protected swimming areas, and half basketball courts. Lakeside Park also has a sand volleyball court. Restroom facilities with flush toilets are also provided in this area. A fee is charged for the day-use of the parks. The group pavilions may be rented by making a reservation at the Project Office located near the dam. The group pavilions have picnic tables, a covered cooking grill, and electricity.

SWIMMING - A designated protected swimming area with a beach is found in the Brushy Creek Campground near RV Area E1. There are no lifeguards provided and swimming is at the user's own risk. Swimming is not permitted at boat ramps or docks.

FISHING - A floating fishing pier is provided near Tent Area T2. This facility is for fishing only. No mooring of boats or swimming is allowed from this pier.

BOATING - Brushy Creek Campground has one multi-lane concrete launching ramp.

BUCKHORN CREEK - OPEN SUMMER ONLY

Buckhorn Creek Park Recreation Area at Lake O' the Pines is a highly developed camping area located at the eastern end of Ferrell's Bridge Dam, just off FM 726. The park provides complete overnight camping facilities, with day-use facilities available in nearby Lakeside, Overlook and Shady Grove Parks. The park is open from March 1 through September 30 each year.

CAMPING AREA - Buckhorn Creek Campground provides developed campsites for recreational vehicles and tent campers with electricity and water. There are less developed areas specifically for tent camping without electricity. Campsites may be reserved by contacting the National Recreation Reservation Service.

There are 38 campsites in the tent camping areas. These campsites are located in wooded areas and are suitable for campers with tents only. Each site includes a tent pad, picnic table, fire ring, lantern pole and access to a trash receptacle. Three water hydrants are distributed within each tent area. A fee is charged for these campsites.

There are 58 campsites in the area designated for recreational vehicle camping. Campsites for RVs have hard surfaced pads primarily for use by camper type vehicles or trailers, although some of these campsites have tent pads and will accommodate both RVs and/or tents. Each campsite provides a picnic table, fire ring, lantern pole, water hydrant, electrical connection, and access to a trash receptacle. A fee is charged for these campsites.

A RV dump station is located near the entrance of the park for disposal of sewage.

Four restroom facilities are provided for the above camping areas. Each restroom has flush toilets. Two of the facilities are classified as washrooms and have showers in addition to toilets.

DAY-USE AREAS - Day-use facilities are located adjacent to the dam in nearby Overlook, Shady Grove, and Lakeside Parks. These parks have picnic tables, cooking grills, designated swimming beaches, public boat launches and group pavilions. A fee for boat launching and the day-use parks is charged. A fee is also charged for the pavilion at Shady Grove Park and Lakeside Park. The group pavilions may be rented by making a reservation at the project office located near the dam. Each of these pavilions has picnic tables, a large cooking grill, and electricity.

SWIMMING - There is not a designated swimming beach at Buckhorn Creek Park. Designated swimming beaches are found at nearby Lakeside and Shady Grove Day-Use Parks. Swimming should be limited to those areas. There are no lifeguards provided and swimming is at the user's own risk.

BOATING - Campers have exclusive use of a multi-lane concrete launching ramp provided at Buckhorn Creek Park.

JOHNSON CREEK - OPEN ALL YEAR

Johnson Creek Recreation Area at Lake O' the Pines is a highly developed multi-use park located at the north shore of Lake O' the Pines, just off FM 729. The recreation area provides day-use, group and overnight camping facilities. The campground is open year around.

CAMPING AREA - Johnson Creek Campground provides developed campsites for recreational vehicles and tent campers with electricity and water. There are less developed areas specifically for tent camping without electricity. Campsites may be available on a first come/first serve basis, but campsites may be reserved in advance by contacting the National Recreation Reservation Serviceä. In addition, the Group Camping Area with a pavilion may be reserved at the project office.

There are 22 campsites in the tent camping areas. These campsites are located in wooded areas and are suitable for campers with tents only. Each site includes a tent pad, picnic table, fire ring, lantern pole and access to a trash receptacle. Sites 08-12 in Tent Area 1 are “walk-in only” sites within 50-150 feet of parking areas. All sites in Tent Area T2 have electricity hook-ups. Potable water hydrants are located with both tent areas. A fee is charged for these campsites.

There are 63 campsites in the campground designated for recreational vehicle camping. The reservable Group Camping Area has 12 additional RV sites. Campsites for RVs have hard surfaced pads primarily for use by camper type vehicles or trailers, although some of these campsites have tent pads and will accommodate both RVs and/or tents. Each campsite provides a picnic table, fire ring, lantern pole, water hydrant, electrical connection, and access to a trash receptacle. A fee is charged for these campsites.

A group pavilion may be rented by making a reservation at the Project Office located near the dam. The pavilion has picnic tables, a covered cooking grill, and electricity. Reserving the amphitheater is free, but it requires a special event permit from the Project Office.

SWIMMING - Two designated protected swimming areas with beaches are found at the Johnson Creek Recreation Area. One is located in the Day Use Area for the general public and the other is located in the Campground for overnight visitors. Swimming should be limited to those areas. There are no lifeguards provided and swimming is at the user's own risk.

FISHING - A floating fishing pier is provided in the Day Use Area. This facility is for fishing only. No mooring of boats or swimming is allowed from this pier.

BOATING - Johnson Creek Recreation Area has two multi-lane concrete launching ramps. One ramp is located in the Day Use Area for use by the general public and the other is located in the Campground for use by overnight campers.

TWO GROUP CAMPGROUNDS ARE AVAILABLE BY RESERVATION THROUGH PROJECT OFFICE.

Three group pavilions are AVAILABLE BY RESERVATION & REQUIRE A SPECIAL ACTIVITY PERMIT.
