Joe Pool Lake Camping

Camping is permitted only at Cedar Hill State Park and Loyd Park. Each individual campsite is restricted to no more than ten persons and two camping structures. Only one of the structures may be a RV, travel trailer, pop-up camper, etc.. For example, campers may have two tents or one tent and one RV, but an RV and a travel trailer may not occupy the site at the same time. Vehicles parked at a campsite should not exceed the physical limitations of the site. Overflow parking areas are provided in each park for extra vehicles.
Cedar Hill State Park
Cedar Hill State Park features 355 mostly wooded campsites with a shade shelter over some of the picnic tables. Each site has water, electricity, a fire-ring, a lantern pole, and a picnic table. All campsites are within walking distance of restrooms with hot showers. Additionally, there are 30 primitive campsites. The park is located on the east side of Joe Pool Lake off of F.M. 1382 between the Dam and the City of Cedar Hill. This park is leased to and operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Cedar Hill State Park has opportunities for camping, picnicking, biking, hiking, fishing, swimming, boating, group facilities, and souvenir shoping (at the Texas State Park Store). Cedar Hill State Park also has a full service marina.
Loyd Park
This area is located on the west side of Joe Pool Lake at the city of Mansfield. This park is maintained and operated by the City of Grand Prairie. There are 221 campsites, 40 picnic sites, one four-lane boatramp, three fishing piers, hiking, swimming, boating, equestrian trails, group facilities, softball, and many more water related activities. There is an $10.00 entrance fee to enter Loyd Park.
The 221 paved campsites with water and electric service are available for $12.00 per day. 30% of the sites are double sites. Each camping loop has a restroom with showers available to the camper. Loyd Park also has opportunities for group camping. There are two group camping areas. Each group camping area has a small pavilion along with 10 electrical camping sites. These sites are available for $100.00 per day. Camping Reservations may be made through the City of Grand Prairie by phone (817) 467-2104, written or email requests. .
Loyd Park has one boat ramp with four lanes of concrete construction, a courtesy dock for loading and unloading boats, and an adjacent asphalt parking area which hold about 60 vehicles. Swimming is not permitted in the vicinity of the boat ramp. Purchase of a $10.00 boat launch fee is required to access the boat ramp.
Loyd Park has one developed swim beach. Lifeguards are not provided. A change shelter and asphalt parking area with over 120 spaces are provided in close proximity to the swimming area. A volleyball net is located at the Loyd Park Swimming Area. There is a food and beverage concession at the swimming area
Loyd Park has a six mile round trip multiuse trail system. The trail is available for hiking, biking, and equestrian use. There is a restroom halfway through the trail.
Loyd Park has two group pavilions. Pavilion H has a volleyball court, seating for 80 persons, a baseball field, parking for around 40 vehicles, and a restroom in close proximity. Pavilion I has a volleyball court, seating for 80 persons, parking for about 40 vehicles, and a restroom in close proximity. The pavilions each cost $40.00 per day plus $10.00 per vehicle for an entrance fee. Reservations may be made through the City of Grand Prairie at Joe Pool Lake by phone (817) 467-2104.
