McGee Creek State Park Huts
McGee Creek State Park has eight Lake Huts located near the Potapo Campground. Although rustic in appearance, these huts provide shelter from the elements that Mother Nature can unleash whether it is rain or the summer heat. The huts are approximately 12 feet in width and 24 feet in length, and each has a screened in back porch overlooking the lake. The accommodations include one set of bunk beds with mattresses, table, chairs, fireplace and air conditioning. There are no linens. Water and a bar-b-que grill are available outside each hut. A restroom with showers is within walking distance. These huts are available for reservation through the park office. A grocery store is located just outside park boundaries for supplies. All major credit cards accepted.

McGee Creek State Park Trails
The Natural Scenic Recreation Area is an 8,900 acre preserve, open all year and offers nature lovers over 35 miles of hiking, mountain biking and equestrian trails. No motorized vehicles are allowed past the lookout parking lot; and, the upper arm of McGee Creek that reaches into the area may soon be restricted to electric motors and paddles only. This wilderness abounds with wildlife and users can choose any length excursion from a short nature trail to over 30 miles of continual trail system.
Requiring a free permit, available at the permit station located at the NSRA entrance, visitors can enjoy day usage or utilize one of two primitive canoe camps, seven hiker-biker primitive camps, or two primitive equestrian camps, located within the trail system. No utilities or amenities are available at these primitive camps.
The hiking and equestrian trails are from 1 mile to 20 miles long. You would have to stake your horses as there are no corrals.
