Northwestern Oklahoma State University Homecoming Celebration

This three day Homecoming event begins Thursday with the Miss Cinderella Talent Show in Herod Hall Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. where 17 high school senior girls from northwest Oklahoma and southern Kansas will compete in a talent competition. On Friday, these same girls will compete in the pageant part of the competition and at the end of the contest, one girl will be crowned Miss Cinderella.

On Saturday, Homecoming events kick off on Alva's downtown square. At 8 a.m., the 5K Ranger Run begins in front of the Rialto Theater.
- A reception for Sheldon Russell, honorary Homecoming parade marshal, will begin at 9 a.m. at the NWOSU Alumni Association tent on the square, and the annual Homecoming parade will begin at 10 a.m. Bands, floats and other attractions will make their way around the square during the parade.
- Mini-band concerts will take place after the parade on the band shell on the lawn. Other attractions are available for the kids. Several college student groups will have tables set up with various fundraisers.
- Alumni band members will have a short get-together to practice a few tunes and will gather at Ranger Field to perform in the stands during the first half of the Homecoming Ranger football game, which kicks off at 3 p.m.

Great Salt Plains CampingThe State Park offers both waterfront and wooded primitive and RV campgrounds. Sandy Beach has 34 primitive and 27 RV sites at Area 1 and approximately 43 primitive sites at Area ll, and a swim beach with bathhouse. The Salt River Road Area has 36 RV sites and 15 primitive sites, trails, and a marina. The North and South Spillway Areas each offer approximately 8 primitive campsites.

There are seven comfort stations (three with showers) located throughout the park, including at least one in each of the campgrounds; and one sanitary dump station is available for recreational vehicle use. Semi-modern campground and comfort station in River Road is open year round. Other comfort stations are open from March 15 to October 31.

Great Salt Plains State Park Cabins

Great Salt Plains Cabins
Six cabins each feature a fully-equipped kitchen, a double bed and a hide-a-bed. The cabins are air-conditioned and heated. Five of the cabins will each accommodate four guests. One larger cabin, furnished with two double beds and a hide-a-bed, will accommodate six guests. Cabins are provided with cookware, dishes, utensils, towels, linen, and cleaning supplies. There are no telephones, television or fireplaces in the cabins. Cabins are available year round.

Hiking includes the Tonkawa Interpretive Trail, an easy 3/4 mile trail that is great for seniors and handicapped persons, located just north of the spillway.

The George Sibley Trail, is a seven mile, multi-use trail for horses, hikers, and mountain bikers (an equestrian campground is available).
