The Land Institute, founded in 1976, is a non-profit, educational research orgaization that works to develop safer methods of agriculture. Graduate students carry out experiments in agro-ecology during a 43-week internship at the Institute. An Annual Prairie Festival held Memorial Weekend each year celebrates prairie culture with workshops, nature walks, dances and lectures. Tours of The Land Institute can be arranged.
