Elmwood Cemetery Walk
Elmwood Cemetery is the oldest burial location in Lancaster. In October visit citizens of the 1800’s who came from throughout the eastern United Sates to make Ohio their home. Period appropriate costumed reenactors bring these individuals to life and celebrate their achievements and stories. The 5:00 tour is easiest to walk around with guides sharing local myths and folklore. By 6:30, the lanterns are lit and the beauty of the terrain comes to life. By 8:00 the moon adds to the allure of the walk. This event helps bring our past into focus and enables understanding of what has gone before to make our lives what they are in present day. Visitors are always entranced with the cemetery and the fact that history is not just dates but the stories of the lives of real people who made a difference.
