Camping is permitted in nine public use areas around the lake. Facilities and opportunities range from modern to primitive. All campers must register, and overnight camping fees are charged in addition to the required Park Entry Permit. Self-registration stations are located in each campground.

, NE SwimmingFishing is a popular activity, and Branched Oak supports a varied fish population, including bluegill, channel and flathead catfish, black and white crappie, largemouth bass, white perch, walleye and wipers. Two modern fish cleaning stations are provided, one each in Areas #5 and #11
