Cheyenne, Oklahoma

Inside the Roger Mills County Courthouse in Cheyenne is a breathtaking, life size sculpture in bronze entitled "The Washita." This sculpture was created by the artist Ernest Berke in 1984.

The sculpture "Washita" depicts an Indian woman carrying her baby while fleeing during the battle of the Washita. This was made as a commemoration to all the women who agonized and were killed in all wars.

While viewing the statue in the courthouse, walk down the hallways for historic photographic exhibits including rare photos of old towns and prominent Indians.
