Shaw University
Chartered in 1865, Shaw University is a private, four-year liberal arts college. The oldest historically black university in the South, Shaw offers more than 30 undergraduate degree programs ranging from biology to Africana studies and graduate programs in the Divinity School and Education Department. The student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee(SNCC)was an outgrowth of a conference held on the campus in 1960.
