Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania has more variation than it first appears to. Once you move beyond the most populated areas, the state opens up into a mix of forests, hills, and smaller towns that support a different kind of travel.

The central and northern parts of the state carry more of the outdoor experience, with longer routes and more space between stops. The eastern and western edges are more developed, which changes the pacing and structure of trips.

Because of that, Pennsylvania works well when you choose a region and build within it. The state is large enough that trying to cover too much at once can dilute the experience.

Fall is one of the strongest seasons, especially in more forested areas. Summer is the most flexible overall, while winter narrows options depending on location.
