Mordecai Historic Park

Mordecai Historic Park offers a unique glimpse into early Raleigh life. The park features Mordecai House(c.1785/1826), formerly the seat of one of Wake County’s largest plantations and home to five generations of the same family. Highlights include a collectiion of family furnishings, original plantation dependencies, and a 19th century kitchen with a recreated kitchen herb garden. Other park buildings include the birthplace of President Andrew Johnson and St. Mark’s Chapel, built by slaves in 1847. Tour hours are Tues.-Sat.,9am-4pm;Sun.,1-4pm
