Wayne County Historical Society
Visit displays that depict Wayne County's importance as a major cultural crossroads in early America, where industrious Pennsylvania German pioneers settled alongside hardy Yankees from New England to form a unique melting pot of ethnic traditions that continue into the present day. Our campus includes The General Reasin A. Beall House (original to the site), the 1873 one-room schoolhouse, an 1880's era ladies dress shop and general store, a pre-Civil War pioneer log cabin, the Relief Company Number 4 1880's era firehouse and The Kister Building which houses the military, agricultural, transportation, early crafts, Native American and antique taxidermy collections as well as changing quarterly exhibits on a variety of topics. Contact us for a current events and exhibits schedule. Open for tours by appointment only during the months of November, December and January.
