St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church

Built in 1842, consecrated in 1843. Oldest church building in Aiken. Behind the sanctuary are interred botanist Henry Ravenel and poet James Matthews Legare. Only Confederate soldiers who died in the 1865 Battle of Aiken were allowed burial privileges. Mead Hall School (pre-K through 8th grade) is one of our outreach ministries located on the grounds.
