Alabama Wagon Train

Feb
4–13

Sign-up fee for participants. Train begins at Sand Mountain Saddle Club in Boaz and ends at Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery, site of the Southeastern Livestock Expo-sition—”The ride that warms your heart and tests your britches” covers 190 miles.

This journey from Boaz to Montgomery is one of the largest and oldest annual moving wagon trains in America.

As the name points out, the Alabama Wagon Train is a Train, not a trail ride. For 10 days, wagons, horses, livestock and driving teams will wake up at 4:30am and move out by 6am.

You do not have to ride the entire 10 days. You may ride a day, rest, and rejoin at a later camp.

Most of the ride takes place along the old Jackson Trace Trail and includes blacktop, side roads and trail rides. The ride concludes at the Southeastern Livestock Exposition in Montgomery.

Each camp is pre-set and made ready. The camp is catered on site with meals available for reasonable fee.

The people along the route are aware of the Alabama Wagon Trail and often come out to watch the Alabama Wagon Trail pass.
