Annual Barbershop Quartet Festival

Lakeside will celebrate the annual Lakeside Barbershop Quartet Festival at 8:15 p.m. in Hoover Auditorium. Barbershop emerged in the U.S. in the early 1900s from African-American music traditions, and went through a revival in the 1940s. The Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) describes barbershop as “four-part, unaccompanied, close-harmony singing with consonant chords, understandable lyrics and easily singable melodies.”

This year, the Lakeside Barbershop Quartet Festival will feature three award-winning groups: The Hall of Fame Chorus, Over Easy and The Franchise.
