Tappan Lake
Tappan Lake, located in Harrison County in eastern Ohio near the village of Cadiz and just east of Uhrichsville and Dennison in Tuscarawas County, is one of the state's top boating and outdoor attractions. Managed by the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District, the lake was constructed in the 1930s for flood reduction and water conservation, but has turned into an outdoor recreational paradise. The lake and Tappan Lake Park are easily accessible by traveling on Rt. 250, and is just a short drive from I-77 and Rt. 22. Boating, fishing, camping, hiking, biking, hunting, swimming and more are among the reasons visitors make their way to Tappan Lake each year. A campground of more than 500 sites at Tappan Lake Park accommodates visitors for a weekend, a week, month or more. The park also is home to a full schedule of activities and events each year from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Camping is available year round. Tappan Lake also is the headquarters for the Buckeye Trail, one of the most comprehensive trail systems in the state and Midwest.
