Rossville Museum and Cultural Center

May
16–17

This 1869 home of former slave York Ryal is a newly renovated monument to freedom. The displays tell the history of the 383 slaves freed by John Randolph of the Roanoke Plantation in Charlotte County Virginia, their journey to the north, and the injustices they suffered. Miami County and American Black History are documented from the 1700’s to the 1900’s. Exhibits showcase the Mills Brothers, contain African artifacts, and document the under-ground railroad in the area.
