GoomBay! Festival

GoomBay is an African-Caribbean festival, located in downtown Asheville, that lives up to its West African name, meaning rhythm or drum, with rhythmic sounds and colorful sights. Sponsored by the YMI Cultural Center. From steel drums, African-America dancers, local gospel groups, and contemporary rhythm Bands to an authentic Caribbean meal at “Island of Delight” Café, come see vendors line the streets with everything from ice cream to third world crafts.
