Annual Harvest Moon PowWow

Aug
22–24

On Labor Day weekend, the Native American Education Association is determined to have one of the best Pow-Wow’s in Southeastern Ohio. They will be presenting its annual Harvest Moon PowWow in the Gallipolis City Park in beautiful downtown Gallipolis, Ohio right along the Ohio River front.

The purpose of the Pow-Wow contributes greatly to the revitalization of traditions and culture of the Native Americans. The unique culture of the Native Americans will be expressed thru music, dance and spirituality. Native Americans come together to share experiences, discuss issues, demonstrate, sell and exhibit their work. Story tellers will be on hand to identify with the children telling stories of Chief Cornstalk and Tecumseh. Food vendors will be on hand to give a taste of Native American cooking. Veterans from the American Legion and Gallia County Viet Nam Veterans will open up the ceremonies each day to give patronage and honor to our great nation. The Artistic Drum for this event will be Red Circle. Red Circle is a great drum who is known through out the Eastern region of the United States. They will be bringing a following of dancers in full regalia with them. The Co-Host Drum for the Pow-Wow is Sky Hawk. Our MC is Danny Two Eagles. Head Veteran is Brian Darst. Head Male Danacer is Shane Norris. Head Female Dancer is Rona A Tis La. The Arena Director is Ross Davidson. Bring your lawn chairs and have a great time. The Pow-Wow opens daily from 10am to dark.
