Barber County

The Gypsum, or Red, Hills of Barber County are one of the Sunflower State’s best kept secret. Unlike anything else in the state, the short mesas, deep ravines, and caprock formations are worth a tour. The area is beautiful to explore in the wildflower bountiful late spring and summer, the colorful autumn or when the hills and cedar trees are covered with a new blanket of snow. Be sure to take time to explore the hills on the Scenic Drive located west of Medicine Lodge. You will be able to view the legendary Flowerpot Mound and Twin Peaks. Additional enjoyable time can be spent if you want to explore the lesser traveled roads.

Welcome to the land of homesteaders, Indian warriors, bank robbers and vigilantes. Bring your cameras and curiosity to explore a county rich in beauty and history, and full of fun.

More road, less rush.

There's no need to hurry through something worth experiencing.
