Waco Lake
Lake Waco, located in central Texas and lying entirely within the city limits of Waco, Texas, is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operated lake in McLennan County about half way between Dallas/Ft Worth and Austin, Texas. Lake Waco is fed by the North Bosque and Bosque Rivers and several smaller creeks in the area and has a surface area of 7,270 acres and a maximum depth of 85 feet with only slight fluctuations in lake levels. Crappie fishing is hard to beat at Lake Waco and Largemouth bass, White Bass, Catfish, and Sunfish are also good, especially in the spring.
Lake Waco has several parks around the lake, offering various types of recreation such as boating, jetskiing, water skiing, camping, fishing, swimming, along with birding areas, and biking and walking trails. The lake has seven boat ramps, and Airport Park, on the north shore of Lake Waco, has a marina, boat ramp, restaurant, and RV and tent campsites.
