Big Springs Trout Hatchery

State-owned hatchery has 24 spring-fed raceways, fed by Iowa’s largest coldwater spring. Rainbow, brook, and brown trout are raised to stockable size and released to 21 streams throughout northeast Iowa. Special tours on Iowa’s trout program, fish production, and water quality topics. Trout fishing information, guide and licenses available. Fish in Turkey River and nearby trout streams for rainbow, brook and brown trout, as well as smallmouth bass.
