Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum

The immigrant story comes alive at Vesterheim, America’s oldest and largest museum devoted to one immigrant group. The downtown historic complex includes the main building, built in 1877 as a luxury hotel; an 1800s farmhouse from Norway; early pioneer immigrant homes; a church and house from North Dakota; and a stone mill that houses early farm equipment. Displays feature costumes, homes, room settings, colorful folk arts and woodcarvings, church altars, and a 25-foot boat.
