Fairplain School now serves as a Grange building, and is located 6 miles north, one mile west and 3 miles north of Burlingame. Superior Schoolhouse is located 3 miles south of Burlingame on Highway 31. the town of Superior was once located in that vicinity. However all that is left now is the schoolhouse and a farm barn, which stands nearby. This old stone schoolhouse is now a private residence. It is located on highway 31, at the south side of Melvern. This red brick schoolhouse sits on Highway 31, 3 miles east of Osage City. The Arvonia School was begun in 1872 and served District 39 until 1949. It sits on a hilltop at the southwest edge of Melvern Lake near Sun Dance park. Smith Creek school building statnds 3 miles east and I mile north of Osage City.
