Caney Valley Historical Society Museum

Three buildings form the Caney Valley Historical Society Museum complex with the Wallar Building housing most of the exhibits and is also the location of the Caney Chamber of Commerce office. The town’s heritage as “The Big Gas Town” is reflected in a large wall mural recently completed by an area artist, and two large rooms are filled with items from the town’s past.

Across the street is the original Little White Schoolhouse that contains school memorabilia, and back of it is the original 1880s doctor’s office building containing early day medical equipment.

The museum also offers a number of genealogical references including obituaries, microfilm rolls of local newspapers, citizen-written histories, marriages, lists of early-day business, school alumni directory and yearbooks.
