Arthurdale New Deal Festival

Activities celebrate the history of Arthurdale, the nation’s first New Deal Homestead Community and pet project of former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Enjoy traditional Appalachian musical performances throughout the day. Shop at the artisan market and the Arthurdale Heritage Craft Shop. See artisan demonstrations including blacksmiths, spinners, weavers, and potters. Visit with “Eleanor Roosevelt’ as portrayed by a living history actor. Visitors can see the New Deal Homestead Museum free of charge. Food will be served throughout the day including home-cooked barbeque chicken dinners.

Sunday’s events include a 5K Run and Walk. The 5th Annual New Deal Festival Antique Car and Tractor Show begins at 10 a.m. Visitors can also enjoy free museum admission on Sunday as well as live musical entertainment. Food served on Sunday will be a pig roast.
