Blandwood Mansion
This elegant, 19th-century Italian villa was home to former North Carolina Gov. John Motley Morehead. The 1844 addition by renowned architect Alexander Jackson Davis contributed to Blandwood’s designation as a National Historic Landmark. Today it still displays many of its original furnishings and is operated as a museum by Preservation Greensboro Inc. The adjacent Carriage House can be rented for receptions, dinners and meetings. Tours: Tues.-Sat., 11am-2pm; Sun., 2-5pm. Last tour begins 30 minutes before closing. Closed during the month of January. Reservations required for special rates and groups of 20 or more.
