Caswell Center Museum and Visitor Center

The only museum for the feeble minded in NC, possibly the only one in the US. Filled with orginal artifacts, Caswell Center was established in 1911 as the first school for the feeble minded in NC. The museum documents the early history of early retardation and institution life in the US. Kinston/Lenoir chose in 1911 to be home to Caswell School for the Feeble Minded over ECU! Open Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm and other times by appointment.
