Green’s Shell Enclosure Heritage Preserve

An earthen and oyster shell ground feature of late prehistory, during the Mississippian Period (Irene Phase C. 1300 AD), marks the fortified wall of an Indian village. It is the only feature of this type known to exist in the South Carolina.
