Historic Courthouses
Nuckolls County Courthouse
With a population of 733, Nelson continues to serve as the county seat. The beautifully
renovated 100-year-old courthouse stands on a hill overlooking the town. It was built in 1890 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. During the Christmas season the many beautiful
evergreen trees on the lawn are decorated with lights and ornaments, with volunteers from each town in the county "adopting
a tree" to decorate.
