Oglebay Institute Schrader Environmental Education Center – Maple Sugaring Day

Learn how to tap maples and enjoy a pancake breakfast with fresh maple syrup- straight from the Oglebay sugar bush. This hands-on experience demonstrates various methods of tapping maples, collecting sap and making syrup. From methods used by Native Americans and early American pioneers to current pipeline techniques, the history of maple sugaring is also discussed. Admission is $7 and includes a pancake breakfast. The Schrader Environmental Education Center is located in the nationally acclaimed Oglebay Resort, just minutes from interstate 70 in Wheeling. Call 304.242.6855 for more information.
