Ohme Gardens

On a rocky bluff, just north of Wenatchee sits one of the most famous alpine gardens in America. The dry and desolate hill was transformed into nine acres of lush alpine beauty by two generations and over 60 years of work by the Ohme family. Native stone pathways connect garden levels leading to fern bordered pools with trickling waterfalls, secluded hideaways, rustic shelters, a wishing well, and a stone lookout at the highest point. Groves of evergreen trees and low-growing plants have been blended with existing rock formations to create effects varying from the lush growth of a rain forest to the variegated patterns of an alpine meadow. Vista areas offer spectacular views of the Cascade Mountains, Columbia River, and Wenatchee Valley.
