Rails to Trails

Hike, bike, or horseback ride. Herington is the starting point of the recreational trail converted from the old railroad beds. The Flint Hills Nature Trail begins in the City of Herington, a city with a long history as a major rail center in Kansas. The trail runs through the gently rocking tall grass prairie under a clear breeze. The breeze is punctuated by bobwhite quail and prairie chickens. Deer can be seen abundantly in the area.
