Sherman County Historical Society Museum

The museum collection is housed in several buildings that have been saved from around the county and moved to the museum site on the edge of Loup City. These include the Hawk Schoolhouse, the Ohlsen/Jenner House and the Austin School.

Many smaller items in the collection bring the past to life and evoke personal memories for many Sherman County residents. The Austin School display includes the old wood burning cook stove used by Elsie Pritchau and many will remember the Book Week Displays created by Harriet Gallaway between 1931 and 1974.

In addition, the collection includes a vast number of photographs depicting the history of the county as well as several volumes of county records that are available for historical research.

The Sherman County Research Center is now open at 740 O St in Loup City with a phone number of 308-745-5545.
